Anybody ever changed the upper firing pin on an older model savage 24? (.22/.410) I was able to get the old pin out byu just removing the upper firing pin screw and it just came out the back. The reason I am changing it is because it was missing the srping, and it looks like sombeody had filed on the pin quite a bit. Anyway, the thing is causing me all kinds of grief going back together. Just can get the pin and the spring lined up enough to go in the whole. (Kinda sounds bad, huh!)
Is there a trick to this, or do you have too disassemble the action so you can get a straight shot at the whole? Any help would be appreciated!
