Used handi value
« on: August 27, 2010, 05:11:54 AM »
Is $250 a good price on a "near new" woodstock handi in .243???  Or should I talk him down to $225?  It's a buddy's gun and thinking of adding to collection although I already have a .243.

I always haggle wether its a used car or a used gun remember as soon as it goes out the gun shop door it becomes a used gun. I usually try to get an idea of what I would actually pay for it and start lower than that and haggle up to my price. But who knows stick 10 nice new crisp 20 dollar bills under his nose and he might just snatch em up.

SH,

Thanks.

I agree with haggling the gunshops, etc.  My only "dilemma" is that it's a buddy's gun and don't want to "steal" it....just pay him what it's worth.  $250 sounded high to me, but maybe it's not.  I know costs/popularity for these handi's has went up since I bought mine 5yrs ago.

Bud's sells em new for $255 w/free shipping for comparison, of coarse you have to consider fees and tax, new will be an extractor also, something else to consider.

My local gun shop (Presnell's General Merchandise in Marion NC) sells these for $249.99 brand new.  I'd go for $200.

I appreciate the fact you're dealing with a buddy, but I think 250 is too high for a used standard Handi.  I guess I'd just bow out and not haggle.  When he finds he can't sell it, he may come back and ask what you'd offer.  I think 200 would be fair.

There was a pretty nice used Handi in .243 at a local shop for $165. It was there for a long time, but the last time I was in it was gone. It tempted me several times. New ones here are from $255/$265, depending on where they are.
