OK so I bought a 17 Rem. now the questions.

I dont know a thing about this caliber. It is a 14".  Is it tame enough to put a rifle scope on it, or should I stick to a pistol scope? Is the 17 hard to reload? Any suggestions on reloads? I am sure to have more Q's later. Thanks is advance.

I will assume it is a 17 Remington and not a 17 Remington Fire Ball.  There is not much recoil, if you have a 1 in 10 or 1 in 11 twist barrel you will be shooting 20 to 25gr bullets, if it is 1 in 9 then it will shoot 30gr bullets well.  I shoot 30gr Bergers in mine, you will want to stick with the thick primers, CCI 450's, CCI Br4's or Remington 7 1/2's, it is a high pressure round.  My favorite load is CCI Br4's with 25.6gr of Winchester 760 and the 30gr Bergers.  With the 20 or 25gr bullets, then probably Reloader 15 would be the way to go.  Larry

I shoot hornady 25 gr bullets, 24 gr IMR 4320, and Rem 7 1/2 primers.   It has low enough recoil for a rifle scope but the blast is pretty bad shooting taco style or off a rest with a rifle scope.   I have shot a few hundred of this load through a 14" contender pistol and a couple of thousand through a Rem 700 in 17 Remington

Nobody answered the reload question.  You need a powder funnel or powder dispenser with very small hole.  Most powder funnels are made for .22 or larger.  Also, the bullets are tiny.  Fat fingers can play havoc trying to set flat based bullet on case mouth if you don't have case mouth deburred.  Most of my bullets are now boat tail for ease of loading.

25gr of RL-15 with Rem 7 1/2 primers with a 25gr berger match seems to be the best shooting combo for ANY rifle.

The 17 rem has almost ZERO recoil, and you should be fine with a pistol scope.

easy to reload, just need a 17 cal powder funnel, case trimmer collet, and chamfer/deburring tool.  Most that I've purchased recently fit .17 cal+ other than the case trimmer collet, the one i purchased was a collet/cutter in one.

I dont know of any .17 cal boat-tails, i use the hornady seating die that drops down to help guide the bullet it. But then again, its not very difficult to do to begin with.
