Kawie, the 454's do have more kick than the 44, but they both wear recoil pads from the factory. That takes most of the sting out of it. Main difference is you need to have a better grip on the forestock with the 454's or they can jump out of your hand. Never notice it while hunting. If ya don't mind a bit more recoil, you would love touchin one off with the 454. I also like the way the mag tube is set up like a 22. Handy to unload the tube if needed by unscrewing the tube and dumping them out, then jack the one in the chamber out. Puts a grin on my face when ever I shoot em. DP
