What's the story?

Guess I'm not very observant! I clicked into the Savage arms website, and found no listing for their excellent little model #24 O/U shotgun/rifle..
  Did they drop them?

They were expensive to build I think.  I have a 30-30 over 20 gauge, and I use it all the time.  It doesn't do anything particulary well, but it is the only way to go when you need both guns.  Larry

A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.
