I have had two scopes lately that I think were made by Tasco, or Simmons but had different names on them, that would not zero. In fact you could not adjust the zero at all.
You see a lot of these low priced scopes that have non-scope makers names on them, but they all seem to have the same aluminum colored adjustment dials under the covers. The first was a low power Pine Ridge (Cabela's) that I wanted to put on a 357 handi. Couldn't get the adjustments to work, sent it back. Then the other day I picked up a Remington air rifle in the Cabela's bargin cave. It came with an air gun 4x32 scope but with the same aluminum adjustment knobs. Wouldn't zero.
I have used a plethora of these chiepos on things like 22's and other non-serious rifles through the years, and they have always been functional, but I am going to start insisting on looking under the adjustment covers before I buy any more cheapies. If I have to waste my time on every one of them, they aren't worth fiddling with no matter how inexpensive they are.
