The focus ring on the eyepiece of most scopes is used to focus the crosshairs for your eyes. Kinda like a diopter setting. Look thru the scope at a white wall, focus the eyepiece(crosshairs) for your eyes, install the scope covers. That's it. You will never have to change it unless your eyes get better or worse.

It has nothing to do with the image seen in the scope(trees, animals, etc.) ---pruhdlr

lonewolf5348 - The covers will not allow adjustment unless removed. pruhdlr is correct once adjusted futher adjustment is usually not required. I have 2 of these scopes, they use #27 for the objective & #17 for the ocular (next to your eye).  73's kc8goe

My eyes are not what they used to be :I find I need to focus the eye piece when increasing the power to 9x but 3, 4, 5, X seem all good clarity
I need a set I am tired when getting in snow or rain having the lens not able to see threw

I have noticed when using my scopes the lower powers will focus at about 15-20 yards to infinity. When setting to 9 power sharp focus changes to 30-40 yards to infinity. However it is not a problem as I only use high power for shots over 100 yards or when glassing distances. I have some 2-7X32 Bushnell Banners that do not exhibit this problem. If this is common with other higher power variables or not I couldn't tell you. 73's kc8goe
