Next time you go to wm check out the name badges, no more red white and blue. Musta offended the illegals or muslims. I'm sure wm had a good reason for disassociating itself with the red, white, and blue. POWDERMAN.    :o :o :o :o :o :o

Since everything they sell is made in China I'm not suprised.

Where do folks get the BS idea that everything Wal-Mart sells is made in China? Have you ever actually gone into a Wal-Mart store and looked at the variety of name brand items sold there? They sell the same brands others do and if the items at Wal-Mart are made in China then they are made there when sold in other stores as well. Get a clue why don't ya?

I have to agree with Bill - Wal-Mart still carries thousands and thousands of products that are made right here in the great USA.  They also are one of the few corporations that headqtr. here in the US, and employ many local people at their stores.  I still shop there and will continue to.

You may be right but I can't seem to find them. But if you go to any other store and look at the same product it too is made in china. Even the one's with company names that used to be made in America. The EPA and government regulation has run almost all manufacturing and a large part of farming out of the country.

I don't know why Walmart is such a lightning rod for bashing. It employs lots of people, makes good products available in lots of places where they weren't before.

Don't know if this is the case at your W*M but there are Gold and Maroon badges that many of the new "long service" employees wear. The 25yr red, white and blue are old school.

Have you also noticed that some of the stores are done up in tan or green too? Went by a few Kmarts the other day, they are still closed up tighter than a jug. By golly they stuck by their guns they stayed true to their roots. Well, at least till they went tits up anyway. Absolutely the best way to fail is to not change.

Would your town be better served by an empty building where W*M used to be located? You assume a new store would take there place, maybe, maybe not. I don't want to have to drive 25 miles for a pair of underwear, a quart of oil and a puzzle.

Walmart is a killer of small town commerce a double edged sword of choice. We love the low prices but by shopping there we kill off smaller retailers that can not compete.  When these small businesses folded and were gone we realized that what they lacked in low prices they made up for in customer service and in most cases all around quality. Now many places have nothing, but Walmart there is no other choice. This where the bashing starts because of our love hate relationship with the big yellow smilley face.
Not that Walmart doesn't deserve some hate they have destroyed more than a few small towns by killing off their businesses and then pulling out and leaving the town with nothing and no tax base. Still it was the choices we as consumers made that brought it all about so when your kicking at Wally World  remember to save a few kicks for your own backside.

Right you are.  We all want our cake and eat it too.   The thing is Wally World offers a lot more variety and better prices than any mom & pop ever could.  One WM also provides many more jobs than a dozen Mom & pop stores can.  The times they are a changing. take the bad with the good and deal with it.  You want to see more American made products in WM I suggest you go to your local WM manager and let him know.  If enough of us do that it may make a difference.

I don't mind paying a bit more for something at the smaller shops.
I haven't set foot in our local Walmart in years dang Super Center, if I'm going to do that much walking it will be in the outdoors where the critters ain't near as scary. But I travel a lot with my job and some places leave me no other choice but Walmart.
It's not that I hate Walmart , it's just that impersonal sterile atmosphere and to many people. Beside I like spending my dollar where I can look across the counter at the person who makes the rules and pays the bills. That's the choice I made.

what the hey........is there a Sam Walton was actually born a  Mexican Muslim conspiracy goin' around now? :D

Doubt very much if it has to do with offending anybody Powderman. Probably has more to do with being a different enough change so folks notice it is something new. Simple marketing technique. Still a huge American flag flying out in front of our local Wallyworld. It still donates huge amounts of cash and merchandise to the local food pantry and other non-profit organizations in the area. Still lets the Boy Scouts and the local Cheerleaders have brat sales and car washes in the parking lot. Besides....all the Muslims around here are Americans and proud of it......don't see how they would be offended by Red, White and Blue. Now maybe the Taliban rebels comin' in for their bulk pac 223s.............

Wouldn't matter too much. Most items aren't made here any more. Also like most stores now,the buying is done by computer and linked to the home office and warehouses. Not like back in the late 60's and 70's when I worked at K-Mart and we did have dept.managers and did most of our own ordering.Slow

Yep we exported all of our good jobs and Walmart gave us new jobs making $8.00 an hour (and no insurance) selling products made in other countries by the companies that used to employ Americans at $25.00 an hour plus free health insurance & retirement.  My courthouse square has a pawn shop and a bank.  That's all that's left.  Big box and the interstate hwy. system killed the country I loved.

Yup I agree the country is no longer what it was and that most of the changes are for the worse not for the better. I don't like what is happening or what has happened to this nation but realize I have about zero control over it.

I miss the smaller stores with the more personal touch but for the foreseeable future they aren't coming back. Yes Wal-Mart is one of the reasons but not the only one as even places that don't have Wal-Mart stores have seen the same happening to the small mom and pop stores.

I don't particularly like Wal-Mart and really shop there more as a last resort than as a first choice. Honestly tho many of the things we do buy there I don't know where else to go locally for them and if I did I'd have to make stops at perhaps a half dozen places rather than one. I'd be willing to do that if there were decent options and do when I can but sadly many stores just ain't around as an option any longer.

The world we old farts grew up in is no more and Wal-Mart isn't the reason. Sure they carry Made in China stuff and made in about everywhere else stuff as well even American made when possible. Sadly it seems every year a whole lot fewer of those "Made in USA" stickers are needed cuz we just aren't making stuff here anymore. We've become a nation of service industry rather than of manufacturing and no nation can survive that way. If ya aren't manufacturing and aren't producting raw materials then you are really not generating wealth or new income you are just spending the same money over and over and that money is mostly flowing out of country.

Greed and stupidity are the main reasons I believe.
