Light 22 auto
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:44:52 AM »
Anyone know of a light 22 auto that will shoot high velocity shorts.  I had an old remington years ago that would.  Just wondering if there are any out there.

I haven't seen any semi-auto's that will fire shorts in some time.  Marlin and others have even dropped the short capability from many of their bolt guns so they can use the same clips on both.  Marlin now only has short capability in their tube fed bolt.  8(

Offhand I don't know of any new ones that will.

I had a Mossberg (351K or 352K ??) many years ago that had an adjustable clip that was supposed to function with shorts.  Never tried any in it - mainly because I could never get it to function with LR's even after a few new magazines and several trips to a gunsmith!

It was short, light and very accurate - really hated to part with it, but finally gave up trying to get it to function reliably.

Browning makes a barrel and forend chambered in 22 short, that fits their take down 22 auto.

I have one, but I've never tried it yet.

The Remington 552's will shoot shorts, and everything else, even if you mix them.
It's not as light as the little Brownings, but it's not extremely heavy either.

C'mon Taklebury---take that wad out of your sock drawer and do it while you are young enough to really enjoy it.
