Qu'ran Outlawed in Islamic Algeria....
« on: September 12, 2010, 11:08:28 AM »

.
Algiers - Algeria ordered thousands of Koran books whose covers bear a Jewish symbol to be removed from shelves, on a day in which an American pastor relinquished his plan to burn the holy Muslim testament.
Algerians who had already purchased the books decorated with a Star of David were urged to return them to stores in exchange for another Koran or their money back.

According to the Algerian government, the symbol on the cover “is not in keeping with the general ethics of the state”.

The United Arab Emirates-based Al-Bayan quoted an official from the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs as saying that a private businessman had imported the books from Egypt, and that censoring authorities were accusing him of “disrupting public order”.

Members of parliament also expressed outrage, placing blame on the religious affairs minister and threatening to outlaw individual importation of the holy book.

Geeeezzzzz... 8)   Looks like the 'Star" was originally islamic from the git go... before 'borrowed' for Rothchild emblon to later become israeli national seal.... ???

"The navy flag of Hayreddin Barbarossa may be confused with the Star of David, a Jewish symbol, used by Israel today. However, the flag is not a Jewish symbol. In medieval times, this star was an Islamic symbol known as the Seal of Solomon (Suleiman) and was extremely popular amongst the Turkish Beyliks of Anatolia. The seal was also used by Ottomans in their mosque decorations, coins and personal flags of pashas, including Hayreddin Barbarossa.[1] Another state known to use the seal on their flag was the Candaroğlu. According to the A. Cresques' Catalan Atlas of 1375, flag of Karamanoğlu consists of a blue 6-edged star[2]"

The Barbary Pirates operated all along the coasts of North Africa. Maybe they were thinking of the old flag when they printed the stars on the Qur'an, only the Algerian government stepped in to squash that history.

Nice mislead and 1/8 truth there with your subject line.  "Certain cover art for koran outlawed" would be much more accurate.  But, heck, you are betting that most won't read past the title.

Yet another lie by TM7.

I think his point is something along the lines of people being stupid (like when people were talking about making french fries into freedom fries)  :P

and to "make fun of" the crusade/jihad that never completely died.  it can die IF BOTH SIDES let it, and only if.  he's not supporting either one in this article, just pointing out how assanine some muslims can be with state censorship.

Yep SOP for our resident antisemite. I guess old TM goes by the saying " if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth". I bet the third reich would have loved to had you for a propaganda minister. Keep working on the humor for the BBQ, did I tell you I'm gonna use koran for part of the heat source.
