Franklin Graham's Ft. Bragg evangelism event raises fire
« on: September 24, 2010, 01:30:02 PM »
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/Religion/post/2010/09/franklin-graham-army-christian-evangelism/1

The folks who are causing a ruckus over this clearly do not understand what separation is and isn't. I'm a Chaplain and I see stuff hosted all the time for other faiths, its only the Christian ones anyone complains about. The wiccan circle here is holding a pagan Mehbun festival coming up, hosted by the air force chapel at Hickam. The purpose is to invite non wiccan/pagan folks to learn more about their beliefs. Hmm. So a free concert and an opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith is somehow different? All year round the Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Orthodox folks have events that are open to everyone to attend. Are we really so obtuse as to say that they are not interested in conversion? At what point do we just simply state, you know what; yeah, I think the religion I follow is the only true one. Its exclusive. Its not relative. And I really wish you saw things the way I do. But you don't. We don't have to fight about it, and we can probably function as a society just fine with our differing views. But for pity's sake, don't homogenize our beliefs.

TN, as you know the Bible says we will see this more and more, and we as Christians will be persecuted ourselves.

A darned shame but like  Dee said we can expect more of it. All we have to do is look around us to know that satan is alive and well, even in the whitehouse.  POWDERMAN.  :( :( :( :( :( :(

The Christian Religion will be under attack and criticism until it is transformed into what 'they' want it to be and be used for.

TN, as you know the Bible says we will see this more and more, and we as Christians will be persecuted ourselves.

This has been happening for a while now. As stated its is just fine for other beliefs to hold their meetings. It seems that Christian persecution is in vogue, with the backing of our (Roman(?) senate.

There certainly was NO division when thousands of school childeren were taken out of school to see the Dali Lama, and listen to his religiously motivated pacifist views.  (For comparrison only).

By "Orthodox folks" I take it you mean members of one of the Eastern Orthodox churches.  If so...they too are Christian.

Subdjoe, true. I only use them as an example of another faith group that hosts events on base. No one complains about them either, however, as they are not evangelical.

I said it before and I will say it again! The progressives distorted interpretation of the separation of church and state ONLY goes for Christians.
It has become part of pop-culture to hate Christians. The Church will be tested HARD in the last days and many will fall away. The Church has been, is and will be persecuted. Just ask an Iranian Christian. It will get worse. It is written. Many will be decieved and go for false Christianity like Obama's version of Marxist Christianity. Many will grow tired of the persecution and give up......That is why we are called the remnant.

There are things in this ole world that I truly believe you can do nothing about. You can however, control your own conduct and beliefs, and to me that is the crux of the matter concerning life. For example, I cannot convince others to abandon voting the lessor of two evils, as I truly believe it is why we are where we are today. My solution, was, and is, to vote my conscience regardless of anyone else's beliefs. I am the one looking at myself when shaving every morning.
This thing with Christian persecution happening more and more is also something I can do little about. Our country has, in my opinion fallen into decadent moral decay, and is sliding faster, and faster to hell. I can only continue to be faithful in my beliefs, and say that if and when they come for me, there will be a fight if I am able, as I believe God never intended us to be sheep in the truest sense.
Since Abraham hooked up with Hagar, and sired Ishmael the antagonist, and thru him the Arab people and the founding of Islam it has slowly denigrated toward where we are, and where we are going. Does that mean I am giving up? Of course not. Freedom is God Given, not government given, and I will fight for what God has given me, or at least what I have temporarily on loan from Him.
I don't feel the real need to debate this persecution of the Christian, the government take over of our lives, and the attitudes of folks like Obama. They are, what they are, and I have identified that, so what is there to discuss. I expect nothing but heartache from them, and can only protect what I have. They won't change, but then again. Neither will I.

We have historical evidence that the truth of the Christian faith has spread via seasons of persecution.
We may be witnessing the beginning of something special.

Ah!  Thank you.  I am so used to people misunderstanding the Orthodox Church (are you guys Christian?  Isn't that some pagan cult? Worship pictures? )  that when I see it lumped in with non-Christian groups I tend to put my ha'penny in.
