New 444 Marlin Tomorrow
« on: September 17, 2010, 06:41:13 PM »
Taking a trip tomorrow to pick up my second handi...444 really intrigues me.  I think that I have read that they are pretty accurate as well.

Congrats on the 444!  A most under rated cartridge if there was one.  It'll take anything down in the lower 48 as easy as the 45-70 with the right bullet, and with less recoil.  Mine wears a TruGlo 2 power red dot sight, very quick on target.  DP

Picked it up today.  It is a sharp little gun.  I really like the nickel receiver.  Anyone know if I can pick up a nickel barrel for it?  It was pretty expensive as far as Handi's go.  424.00 out the door :(  I picked up a box of Hornady 265 gr for it as well.  I will give a range report this week.

I keep thinking I'll send one of my receivers back to H&R for a .444 barrel.  I have a lot of brass & ammo.

After the season I am going to send this one in for a .243 barrel.  My son is getting close to that age:)  No I would love to get a stainless barrel to match the nickel receiver.

I recommend you go ahead and get the 444 barrel soon, you will love it. If you fail to do that, just what were you doing with all that 444 stuff ?? ;D ::) ;)
