sidewinders and bird dogs
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:26:19 PM »

This fellow bit my Gordon Setter on the nose.  We were hunting in Arizona near the Colorado River.  My dog had not had his anti-snake venom booster.  The Vet in Quartzite gave him some shots and he was OK.  This sidewinder did not do as well note where the 9MM slugs ruined his day.

Bird hunting has been off due to the long drought down in Az.  A friend from the Big Horn Basin hunts near Kingman every year.  That area is way down also.  The dog has developed a heart murmur from the bite.  We did not expect that one. Thx for asking. RR

A small rattler got my Brittany/Shorthair on the snoot. He did have the "pre-bite" shot but he was still a very sick puppy for several days and it was a month befor all of the swelling left. He normally looks like the photo in my avatar now packing the .44 Bulldog with snake shot. He's really not a very good shot but with snake shot he doesn't have to be.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Now a dog man has just got to love your post CJ.  I was just wonder'in would your pup be interested in tradin that .44 Bull Dog for some'in else?  I had one years ago it turned up in the Mojave a few years back in less than good condition.  Glad your dog is doin well.  When are lttle buddies are hurt'in we are also sad. ;)
