picatinny rail for Ruger #1 rifles
« on: October 06, 2010, 04:32:31 PM »
Anybody know if there is a source for these? It seems like a good idea to make rails that bolt up to the factory barrels in place of the quarter rib or in the drilled holes in the case of the 1V. It could hang over the top of the receiver to let you get the scope back a bit more. If nobody is making these yet I need to get busy measuring and programming my mill!

Have owned a number of #1s over the years, and have never had a problem getting the scope back far enough.

Seems to me installing one of those rails would be a fast way to mess up the looks of a classy rifle.

Of course, this is JIMO.

These aren't Picatinny, but will get the scope farther back.

I share the opinion.  "Picatinny & #1" just do NOT belong together.    Never had any isue with Ruger's mount design or any with the time-proven Weaver style mounting.  To think there was the Picatinny design waiting to surpass them all. LOL

Ruger makes off set rings for the #1 right from the factory is you request them. At one time all you had to do was return the standard rings that came with the new rifle and they would swap them for free providing the rings were unopened.
