well i picked up the combo set with the lam stocks.
im not sure if they have a sealant or finish on them or not, but they seem sorta dull and lifeless
so maybe they needed some work done ? well i figured a nice coating of tru-oil was the way to go

I use more TruOil than anything else but on a laminated stock and some others where it was asked for buy the propective owner, I sometimes use a 'wipe on poly' product. It is very hin and I apply it much as I would oil. Rub it in with the fingers and as thin a coat as is possible.. and quite a few. Heating the stock prior to the first couple of coats seemed like a good idea and it seemed to absorb a bit more finish than those that didn't get wamed.. It is still to be classed as an 'on the wood' finish but they looked pretty good. I still steel fur the fiinished stock and wax it. Old habits die hard!!

I really like Minwax Satin Tung Oil Finish......I put on a think coat and then wipe it of after 10 minutes or so.  I repeat this every 24 hours until I achieve the look I want.
