.45 woes.
« on: September 23, 2010, 05:44:38 AM »
I have always loved hunting with my 45 huntsman. I even bought a second one to try some alterations to make more to my personal liking. Now it seems the entire black powder world has turned it's back on .45s. My favorite bullet was the Hornady Great Plains, gone..... I thought of trying Buffalo bullets offering, gone..... does anyone have any advice on a reliable source for something that has worked well for them?

Hi,

I have never shot a 45 MZ, but I have the 50 Cal Huntsman.  I have tried the 50 cal full bore offerings from "No Excuses Bullets"  and they work great in my gun.  No Excuses offers 2 or 3 full bore bullets in 45 caliber.  I have also bought their 385 grain, 45 cal bullets and shoot them in sabots out of my MZ and they are quite accurate.  "Busta" or one of the other folks will probably be able to help you too.

Keep checking gunshops and gunshows for closeouts. Maybe Auction Arms or Gun Broker.

I found their site after my origional post. I think I'll try them. They are quite a bit heavier than the Great Plains bu tit shouldn't take too long to work up a good load.

FAQ says 1:56. I didn't realize they were that slow. Will the long heavy bullets even work with that rate?
