ONE PROUD MOMMA and INSTRUCTOR!

Today we had a promotional testing for rank in Taekwondo.  Wyatt was testing for Little Dragon Orange belt.  He was sooo cute in his little uniform and did all of his moves and yelled the cutest kihap I have ever heard!  Bradley was testing for Purple Belt and not only did he pass but was graded as a B.  Evan was also testing for Purple Belt and was given one of the ONLY SIX A's given out of 80 students!  My students in Piedmont got two of those A's and the rest were B's.  To let you get a better understanding of how impressive it is that ALL of my students were given either an A or a B in Piedmont, there was only six A's for the three schools, and only 23 B's and 9 of those B's were my students!  I have never been more proud as a mother or an instructor.  The feeling I got today when grades were discussed is one of those feelings that come very few times in ones lifetime.  These students are a direct reflection of me as an Instructor, and they couldn't have made me look any better.  I am so proud of all of them!

HEATHER. Great news girl. Is it harder to teach your own kids than someone elses???? Is there any friction between your own and the other children because you are their mother??? I personally saw friction with  a basketball coach, some of the kids felt he was prejudiced towards towards his own son, when in fact I saw he ws actually harder on him than anybody else. The other parents and kids LOVE my boys, so no friction at all.  I must admit I am a little bit harder on them, but mainly because they are higher rank, and whether they are my kids or not they would be expected to set the example for the lower ranks.

Powederman's comments are right on the money.  I coached my daughter in soccer for several seasons and I always expected more of her than from the other kids.  I wanted her to set the example.  And I don't know what it is about your own kids but it seems that they will disregard anything that you tell them but if someone else was to tell them the exact same thing five minutes later it's like they've just heard the Gospel truth for the first time.  Go figger.
