Prefer break action     Gunshop has a Stoeger for 139 dollars.   What kind of accuracy can I expect?

I think I've gave this recommendation several times on here but I have yet to see it fail so I'll continue with it:

If you're willing to go to $200 you can buy a brand new Diana/RWS model 34 in either .177 or .22.  Very well built rifle that will out-shoot you and you can pass it on to your kid one day.  If that's too much you can call up Umarex and ask them if they have an refurb units, I think they go for ~$140 now.  If you really don't like the gun you can turn around and sell it for a slight loss, something you'd have a hard time doing with most Crosman, Gamo's or clones thereof.

The model 34 has been around for 20+ years and has sold tens of thousands of copies worldwide.  It's a proven design.  It readily accepts peep sights or a scope.  The aftermarket is very supportive if you want to change your gun in the future.  I don't know much about Stoeger air rifles, how long they've been making them or what sort of support is available to their owners.  I do know that Diana stands behind their rifles and even makes parts for guns that have been out of production for decades.

Clark, I agree with your statement. I've had mine for 10 plus years now and the model 34 continues to shoot & shoot well.
That is my go to indoor gun when the weather is bad & rifle shooting is itching your mood. The accuracy will keep most shooters entertained & it's a great way to dispose of 2 or 3 old thick phone books using them as a backstop:)

Well I bought the Stoeger X 10 and it shoots USUALLY under an inch at 10 yards - best lucky 3 shot group was 3/8 inch. but the point of impact may change. I still am considering the RWS 34 however, if the accuracy is truly same hole at 10 yards. But I only paid under 150 dollars for the stoeger with a scope. The RWS would be an extra 100 dollars with a scope. Probably well worth the extra $. Thanks for the info!

Just be ready to go through scopes on a regular basis.
The only break barrel I have that has only had 1 scope
is a Crosman Titan Nitro piston. As far as accuracy goes,
The QB78 from Archer Airguns is second to none. One ragged hole
at 25 yards. It is Co2 though. Compassco has a PCP version also.

I'll third or fourth the recommendation of the Model 34 as a great basic break-barrel.
Regarding scopes, make sure you get one that is airgun rated.  Due to the reverse/double recoil, a spring piston airgun will eat an unrated scope that would otherwise stand up to a centerfire bolt gun.  Look to Pyramid Air online for springer-rated scopes.

Crosman Phantom with a GRT trigger installed. $112.  I'm very pleased with the accuracy.
