New Project - Mini Naval Cannon
« on: September 24, 2010, 03:44:37 PM »
Just about finished with my naval cannon carriage.  Made with red oak.  The small cannon barrel was purchased off Ebay from someone in South Carolina for about $50.  It is well made out of 1144 steel, 5 1/2" long with a removable breech plug for cleaning.  It has a .38 caliber bore.
I wore Confederate Gray back in the day

Welcome onboard! You did well on ebay, and you made a fine looking carriage to mount the barrel on.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
