Pizza Hut Employee stops robbery

Figured I'd post this here so you guys could see.  When arguing with anti's about the need for guns as self defense I'm often challenged to produce an example of a gun being used for self defense, and so it's handy to keep these types of links around:

I love stories with a happy ending. Problem is I'd almost bet the employee will be fired for being armed, but I sincerely hope not. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Awesome.  The man is a credit to his employer and his community.  Too often thugs get away with taking employees to the 'back room' for execution style slaughter.  I always enjoy reading a story where the perps get what was coming to them.  I hope and pray the man is exonerated.  He just made the streets safer for everyone.

Likely the guy will be fired - I think Pizza Hut has a "no heros" policy.

Here is a bit more on the incident:

Quote
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte police said Tuesday that a pizza restaurant worker who pulled a gun and shot and killed two robbers will not be charged.

Police are searching for a third man who they say got away from an east Charlotte Pizza Hut restaurant.

Investigators said the robbers burst through the restaurant's front door late Monday as two workers were cleaning up in the back.

Police said the suspects ordered the two employees into a walk-in cooler, then started beating one of the men. The other employee pulled a handgun and opened fire, police said.

Police say they found two handguns near the dead suspects. Their names have not been released.

One report actually said that the thugs were black.

I fear you are right, if it happens I hope pizza hut gets boycotted and the employee gets a much better job with more money. I have ZERO tolerance for thieves and other punks. I worked in  a liquor store years ago and carried concealed, I also had a 45 in the cooler in a ziplock bag, and another under the counter. All with my bosses blessings. It saved my bacon several times. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Powderman, have you ever told your stories on this forum?  I'd be interested in hearing.  I love reading armed citizen true life accounts.  Gives insight, and also the more true life stories out there the higher and stouter our bastion of defense for carrying becomes.

I've been de-facto boycotting them for years now anyways.  Nothing but grease in those things.  If you want good mass market pizza at a decent price, go to Papa Johns.  If you want extremely cheap pizza that is not great but is acceptabe, go to Little Caesars.  If you want really good pizza that will probably cost you a bit more, seek out your local non-chain pizza joint.

As said though, it would be a shame to see this guy lose his job.  Sucks to have employers that aren't understanding.  I once had bought a rifle with my C&R license once and was having trouble being home to accept the package.  My boss mentioned to me, not knowing what it was, that I should just have it shipped to work instead (not really an option, but she didn't know that).  I told her "You know it's a gun right? :)" and her response was "So?  As long as you're not pulling it out and pointing it at people I don't care.".  She's retired now but it's good to be able to work for people like that.

YEP. We had a Red Baron 4 meat last night doctored up with xtra mushrooms,  onions, and plenty of shredded cheese, almost forgot the hot pepper rings.  Most pizza sauces are too sweet for my taste.

Given the alternative I suspect even if the guy loses his job he won't regret his actions.

He probably saved more than just his life. Good deal, we need more of this. Luckily I never had to shoot anybody, but did have to pull my gun several times. Once when I was locking up a guy came up behind me with a club, I centered his forehead and was just starting to fire when he turned and ran. It really ticked me off  that he put me in a position where I would have killed him. Even scum has somebody that loves them. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Here's my close call story from my high-volume convenience/liquor store days.  My wife and I worked the busy Friday & Saturday 4pm to 12pm closing time shift.  She ran the cash register, and I sacked beer and kept the walk-in cooler's windows full.  About 8 pm or so business had slacked off.  A beat-up car pulled up to my side of the gas pumps.  Three black guys got out and headed inside.  The black driver left the motor running and got out and pumped $2 gas in the car.  Then he got back in the car and left the motor running.  That fact put me on alert.

The other three came inside the store.  One got beer out of  the walk-in cooler, and one put a big pile of frozen sandwiches in the microwave and cooked them maybe 30 seconds, not even half enough time to even thaw the sandwiches.  That fact further put me on alert.

The third guy walked over to the plate glass window looking out over the parking lot and the highway.  He stood there looking up and down the highway.  He had a semi-auto pistol tucked in his rear waistband.  The outline of the butt was clearly visible under his shirt.  That fact told me the shiite was about to hit the fan.

I left my wife at the register and I sat on a counter behind the checkout counter.  I placed the store's 38 Chief's Special on the counter beside my right hand and clearly visible to the three guys when they walked up to the checkout counter maybe five feet away.

They walked up, and I purposely engaged them in a conversation so they were forced to see my pistol and my hand at the ready.  My plan was simple: if the window guy reached his hand behind his back I would raise my 38.  If he came out with the semi-auto, I would put a 38 wadcutter exactly in the center of his chest.  They nervously paid for their gas, beer, and still-frozen sandwiches.  Window guy noticed the closed circuit TV monitor above the front door.

I said, "There's cameras all around the store, and everything they see goes on a VCR in the back."  Then I lied and added, "There's another monitor and another VCR down at the local police station.  The officer on duty is seeing exactly what you see in the monitor above the door."

They left.  When they drove away, my wife and I breathed sighs of relief.  I called the cops, but the car wasn't found.  They headed south, and I have always suspected that they previously cased the store and getaway routes, so they went south then circled through town and left town in a different direction.   I eventually lost the store and the wife, and I am now very glad about losing both.
