A rifle chambered for the 308 MX will not chamber a standard 308 round. While they are similar, the whole point of making a completely new cartridge for the Leverevolution bullets is to get better ballistics out of a lever action rifle. If they merely loaded the Leverevolution bullets onto a 308 NATO round, SOMEONE would load the tubular magazine with cartridges loaded with hard tipped bullets and the recoil from firing one would inevitably cause a REALLY unpleasant reaction in the magazine.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

The .307 Winchester is essentially a rimmed .308 (the case capacity is a bit lower because the web area of the case had to made thicker to account for the weaker action of a levergun).  The .308 MX is basically a .307 Winchester shortened to allow the use of a FTX bullet that has a longer ogive than the one designed for the 30-30 with a normal 336 action.  None of the rounds mentioned are even remotely interchangeable.
