Some common sense & wisdom here:

Bar Stool Economics

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and
the bill for all ten comes to $100 and If they paid
their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something
like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.)

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed
quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the
owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good
customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of
your daily beer by $20." so drinks for the ten now cost
just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way
we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected...They
would still drink for free...But what about the other
six men - the paying customers? How could they divide
the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair
share?'...They realized that $20 divided by six is
$3.33...But if they subtracted that from everybody's
share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each
end up being paid to drink his beer..So, the bar owner
suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's
bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to
work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing
(100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before...And
the first four continued to drink for free...But once
outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their
savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the
sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got
$10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man.
"I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got
ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the
seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got
only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute,"
yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks,
so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But
when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something
important. They didn't have enough money between all
of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college
professors, is how our tax system works. The people
who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from
a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for
being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the
atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

I have seen this a long time ago but it is the truth and still is the best way to explain how our tax system works.
Even those that don't quite understand it start to get a grip on just how the real world works.

I've puzzled over it for years, but I can't figure how a liberals mind works.
there is no common sense involved but what is the rest of it?  hatred?

I've got a highly educated niece making serious money that votes Dem.
When we talk she tells me that just because she is a Liberal, she is very conservative with her own $
That is nothing new, Nancy,Harry, Billy@Hillary with a whole bunch of similar types have millions of $ of personal wealth that they are NOT about to share.  However they are very good at spending other peoples money.

Well said SB;
We see the liberal elites driving daily for "global governance". The whole idea of closing down our oil fields and industry, while borrowing money to finance foreign enterprises in petroleum (e.g. Brazil) and industries is aimed at "fundamentally transforming" America into a poorer nation...more amenable to "global governance".
Curiously TM and I do see that there are powers working toward one world governance.
TM apparently sees it as a conspiratorial cabal of secret agencies. ancient & modern.. trying to secretly take over governance of the world.

I see it as primarily Fabian Socialists accompanied by their Oxford/Ivy League trained minions, operating quite openly, without subterfuge.
B hussein Obama could not have been clearer when he said he planned on FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGING America and the way things are done here, plus obviously, our standing in the world. Billionaire Geo Soros has done a poor job of it if he is trying to operate completely in the shadows !

Next move to "spread the wealth"...After piling up huge debts, and now printing lots of worth-less dollars...inflation will soon hit, and fiat currency will find it's level. Our savings will dissipate in value greatly. A loaf of bread that now costs $2.50 will then cost $6.50 and the same for any purchased goods. What will that do to your savings?
The Obama administration has already ruled out any cost-of-living adjustments to SS checks to the retired (remember those $250 "freebie checks")   they won't be such a happy memory when bread is $6.50 and there has been no cost-of-living adjustment for 4-5 years..
How much do you want to bet..the welfare checks will keep increasing though ?
All this fits into his plan to demoralize those with a work-ethic and encourage those without one..a prelude to global governance..

...But there is no secret conspiracy however (IMO), they are doing it quite openly..and many Americans are ready to "sell their birthright for a mess of pottage", just as Esau did.  (In other words, vote for these global plotters)

Our only hope politically, is in the rise of grassroots organizations, such as the Tea Party..same as in Boston on that December night in 1773.
More ominously, it appears by Scripture that the US will no longer be a political force of consequence in the later days of this world system.

Iron Glow                  I think you are right about the US of A not being a world power in the end times. Hard to imagine that if we were the power that we are today, that end time prophesy would not even mention us.

So will the tea party movement give us a reprieve and bring sanity back into vogue for a few years? I am afraid maybe we are already too far gone, too many people already think like the ten beer drinkers.

IMO. It started as a conspiracy and has spread so far that some of its tentacles are open to view( tip of iceberg)

I do hope that everyone i know has followed the suggestion i made a few times over the past years. put a bunch of your paper money into hard assets silver and or gold. when they start printing 500 and 1000 dollar bills it will come in handy.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

. When gold or silver can't buy anything anymore because the shelves are empty or the stores looted it is good to have staple food stored away. Flour, sugar, beans, peas, rice, dried fruit, milk and egg powder, honey, canned meat, sealed cheese are a good example.

If you dont remember history you are doomed to repeat it!

During the depression roosevelt confiscated gold and made it illegal to own.

Ya think obama wont take advantage of another crisis?
