Another Successful Bear Hunt

     My friend and I successfully hunted Black Bear with Slipp Brothers Ltd in Hoyt, New Brunswick last week over bait.  It was my second time with Ron and Duane and I now have two bears.  The second day of the five day hunt saw a shootable bear come to the bait at dusk and one shot from my 30-06 was all that was needed.  My friend also shot a nice bear the same evening and saw several others.  The Slipp brothers had 18 rifle hunters this year and everyone of them shot a bear.  They run an excellent camp that includes three meals a day and very nice sleeping accomodations.  My bear was an 8 to 10 year old sow that weighed 262 pounds and was the second largest sow shot in the 28 years they have run their camp.  They were also three for three with moose during the three day New Brunswick season.

How much did they charge? Any complaints or something to be desired? Problems getting guns across? I want to take my son somewhere but I might settle for minnesota.

Over the years I've hunted at the Slipp's 3 or 4 times. Very few outfitters work as hard as Ron and Duane to ensure a successful hunt and to provide comfortable, clean accommodations. They bait bears all year round, unlike many other outfitters.

Food was great and the camp has always had all the amenities. Border crossings are one of the few things that made me look at Maine for my last few bear hunts. No hassles, no delays, no special paperwork, no firearm permits and you can have handguns in Maine. Other than the border crossing issues I really liked hunting at the Slipp Bros camp in New Brunswick.
