price check on Ruger Redhawk
« on: September 23, 2010, 02:39:11 AM »
I have a line on a Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag., Stainless, 7.5" barrel, good/excellent shape.  This is not a super redhawk so I think its a older version.  I think the handles are rosewood if that gives anyone any clues to the vintage of the model.  I don't have any handguns so I don't know alot about them.  Just wondering if this is worth $550.00 dollars?
thanx

They are two distinct, different revolvers - the Redhawk & Super Redhawk, so you'll be purchasing the Redhawk if that is what it is being sold as.  To me, $550 is a little on the high side for a Redhawk but it's in the ballpark if in excellent condition.  I picked one up this year for $385 (good condition but not excellent) and looked at a few in the $450/$475 range but held off.  You won't run across many at those prices either, so I was lucky and you'll have to do some looking.  Most are asking $550 and up depending what comes with the revolver such as rings/scope/holster/ammo etc but I don't think many are being sold at those prices.  If the cylinder throats aren't way out of spec and you want it, no reason not to dicker a little and pick it up.

I have owned a 5.5" stainless Fedhawk for a number of years, and it is ONE TOUGH GUN!!!!!!!!!!!

Taks a lick'in and keeps on tick'in!

My steady go to load is a 310gr cast LBT boolit (wheel Wts.) w/gas check, ahead of 19gr. of AA#9 for just a touch over 1300fps.

Great unit!

Keep em coming!
