What Encore barrel would you keep for hunting?

Hunting deer, bear, hogs? To many Encore barrels.

.357 Max 15"?
.44 Mag 12"?
.454 casull ?12"
45-70 15" ?
.480 Ruger?

I don't know very much about bear hunting so that may be a game changer but the decision for deer and hogs that I do have experience with I would take the 357 Max.

With bear in the equasion I would keep the best shooting one of the big bores. I'm guessing that you reload with you owning the Max. You can go from mild to wild with the 44 mag and the 45-70, the 454 Casull is versatile as you can shoot 45 LC's in it also. While I haven't had dealings with the 480 a lot of guys like it. Decisions, decisions. You know you're going to miss them if you sell any.

If I could only have one of those barrels listed it would be the 454 casull. If it were me I would sale all of them and get a 308 Win barrel and have everything covered very well.  ;D

I am keeping the .357 Max and .480 Ruger barrel and selling the others.
Thanks for your input. To many rounds to be loading up.

The 480 Ruger you can load a heavier bullet VS the 454. A  big wfp cast bullet will leave a nice wound channel also.
 I chose the Encore in the 12" barrel.  Then a Ruger revolver soon.

if I had to choose one, it would be tough to choose. probably .308 win. would do the trick from my colection

of the ones listed I would use the 44 mag. load 240gr for deer and 300gr for bigger game. full load of H110 in each.
 mine is 16 1/4 Virgin Valley in 308 win

I have a 15'' 308 win for deer hunting and a 15'' 300 win mag with a JP howitzer/sherman tank muzzle brake with Winchester 180 GR. power point, for bear hunting.  The 44 mag barrel you have is a keeper.

I would have to say the 12" 44 mag. Mine is an unbelieble shooting barrel.
