Remington 572 Fiedmaster Scope
« on: November 09, 2010, 03:43:30 AM »
On the current production and is their any problems with the scope sliding on the scope rail on the reciever? Thinking about putting a Nikon 4x32 rimfire on it. Had a Marlin that I couldn't keep the scope from walking no matter what I tried. just wondering if that is a problem with the 572?

Well Dad, Yes with a groved reciever the scope will probable walk a little in the groves. Especially if you have it in a truck ridding over washboard roads a lot. Good quality rings, like millit rings help and so does a dab of locktite or epoxy in the grove where the ring sits.  ;)  If you just hunt out of your house and never carry the gun in a vehicle it's not as bad, but who does that. Just get in the habit of checking those ring screws.  :o

Swampy, hang that thing in a gun rack and drive a few thousand miles over mountain roads or put it in a skiff and let it vibrate around a while, or climb in a float plane with it in the baggage area for a few flights.

Then report back.

I was looking for are they as problem mattic as the Marlin 60 with alum. reciever or is Remington more robust or differant type of alum alloy. No matter what I tried on the Marlin they all came loose.

I've never had a problem.  These are one of the best .22 rings for what you want to do.

HUMMMM.
My Speedmaster was mated to a Leupold by a smith using the mounting grooves.
I trust his work.

Ok it sounds like they are still cutting the groves properly. When I get one I will try the Leopold rings. Yes I drive around to do most of my hunting.

for sure those leupold rings grip the grooves. seem to fit tight in them
