Has anyone else noticed the falling price of components?

I personally won't buy from Wideners for a while.  They remained consistently higher than Powder Valley on virtually every component throughout the shortage, sometimes by more than $5 per box of primers, and $10 per keg of powder.  I told them as much when they were doing it that it would affect my patronage, and it will.

The powder Valley folks seemed to go up by only that amount that their suppliers raised prices.

Regarding the price-reduction observation--yes, I noticed a clear decrease. For example, HS 6 a powder typically use, was lowered from about $23 to 17 per lb.

The reason that Wideners prices are still high could be because Stan Widener is trying to pay for the building of his that BLEW UP a few weeks ago. He had a building behind the main building that was said to have contained fireworks and ammo that blew up. There was a mushroom cloud that you could see for over 20 miles. Heaven only knows what he had stored in it. The investigation into the cause did quite down really quick. He is politically connected well if you know what I mean.

That is really interesting. I hope no one was hurt.  The old boy has actually dropped prices considerably of late, but he was part and parcel of the price gouging that was occuring in '09.  Shame on him.  He might be a nice guy, but a few of his competitors resisted the urge (to gouge), and they'll get my business for a while now.

I do hope that his business recovers though.  He has a fine outfit.

The prices have started dropping but some items such as brass & bullets are still hard to get.
Just remember boys, as the prices drop start stocking up so you don't get caught with a low supply the next time it happens.
I was able to weather this storm and maybe the next one but it took its toll.
I am a little low on some bullets but not out.
I will be restocking as prices allow.

I don’t think prices are dropping, just getting back too pre- hysteria levels, One thing you have to say about Mid-South, through out the shortages there prices stayed the same, I may have waited a little over a year for my back order on powder and primers, but there prices never went up.

I haven't seen that much of a drop here, lower than when everyone was out but still higher than they were before the shortage.  Like LongTom, I stay stocked up, looking at some of the price tags on my back stock shows prices are still close to double what they were.  Loaded ammo is still way up there on most cartridges from 22's on up to 45-70's.  The prices keep a lot of people from shooting, just gonna hurt the industry in the end.  Fewer people takin kids out to shoot means fewer shooters down the road.  DP

Reloading prices, like gasoline and cigarettes (which I don't smoke), shot up, but are not expected to fall back to pre-gouging levels. 

It could be said that a "Market Correction" was experienced.  But as anyone with American Can, Interstate Water, National Gas and Northern Tissue stock can attest...due to uncertain market conditions, they were advised to sit tight on their Can, hold their Water, and let their Gas go in the knowledge that Northern Tissue touched a new bottom, and millions were wiped clean.

I've actually not noticed a price drop so much as just a general improvement in component availability. I did notice in a recent flyer I got that .223 FMJ ammo is dropping in price. I saw Russian ammo at $280 per thousand down from closer to $400 or more during the shortage period.

I have also noticed people leaving all kinds of brass at the ranges, that was not happening a year ago.
