CR-45LC Opinions
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:08:11 PM »
Hi All,

Does anyone have this rifle? How's the accuracy / quality? If I got one I'd get a .410 barrel fitted for it. Any and all thoughts welcome.

I really like mine.  I intend to use it for opening day with my Blackhawk on my side.  ;)  I am getting decent accuracy, although I haven't broken this barrel in yet, so I'm sure it'll improve some.  I have gotten a 2" group at 100 yards as my best with this gun.  I am looking at changing out the rear sight to one of Skinner's barrel mount peeps also.  I think part of the issue is that I've never liked the buckhorn style sights as much and this one makes me really lean forward with my eye to get a good sight picture.  8)  If you search here, there are lots of other posts also.  There are issues with some of the chambers being oversized, which if you are a reloader means a lot of work hardening brass.  It took me 3 tries to get a good chamber, although they all shot good.  ;)

Better get one while you can, they haven't made any in 2yrs, last one made was in 2008, and it's been discontinued, CDNN probably has some left for $229.99, it's real popular, look back a few pages or use the search feature, there are hundreds of posts on it, some bad due to oversize chambers, misaligned sights, mostly very happy owners tho.

Got one for 199 from CDnn awhile back.  Reamed it to 454 Casull.  She'll put 3 touching at 50 with a 3x scope, 1.5-2" group at 100.  I love how small it is, and the recoil is not bad at all.

hunted with one for 2 years & a wonderful short range ( 70 yards in ) gun. my friends call it my "POP" gun. light weight ,easy to handle, minimal recoil, i even hunt without hearing protection. A friend loads hornady JHP to about 1100 fps & very accurate with these.
The gun LOOKS GOOD!

Don't leave home without it. I added a Marbles bulls eye rear sight and leather lace on pad. A good hand load or some DoubleTap 335gr will take just about anything in the U.S. and rechambered to 454 brownies could be an option

Get a 44 magnum.

Spanky

Get both ;D ;D

I might still do a .454 or a .460 on mine.  But with the .445, the Maxi and the .45-70 I doubt I need it.  I might just continue to enjoy it as it is.......of course, I've got two vacant frames that might just want to be a .444 and .500.  I think I need to take two 250 gr. XTPs and go to bed.
