Dove hunt
« on: May 07, 2011, 11:09:31 PM »
Found an old scan of a slide from a 1984 dove hunt to share just for S&G.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Good memories.
I've got a couple pics of me and my son from long ago days.
I enjoy getting them out from time to time.

Not much - the ex took all the snapshots of my life (thousands of them, at least half of which was hunting/fishing/camping).    What little I do have is on slides, and they don't scan very well so I don't bother with them.   I hunted/fished just about every species found in the west, a few other places and some from a couple of other countries, but have little to show for it except the memories and a few tanned pelts and skulls.   I did hunt mule deer and elk for around 30 years and predators/varmints for 50 years though.   Took way more than my fair share of them.

How about one of a bobkitty taken with a digital camera?

Yep, the prototype Bullberry 17HMR Contender carbine built special for me by Fred with exhibition wood, a special match chamber and wearing a Weaver KT-15 target scope that I did the field testing of the ammo with a couple of months before Hornady released the ammo for public sale.   It took one shot to the back of the head about 2 AM by moonlight running almost dead away through sage brush at about 75-80 yards with a 17 grain CCI TNT.   It's all about shot placement, and a good 17 rimfire is easily capable of pinpoint accuracy.   I've taken a few coyotes with this rifle out to 180 yards, ground squirrels almost twice that far and lots of other small to medium game.

The look?   Just the difference between being mid 30's and mid 50's, and having
been retired for about a dozen years.  LOL
