jamie,

You are 100% correct the 7 GNR was available before the 7-30 waters went commercial. I knew that and should have made that point clear in my post. Better stated;

The 7 GNR is the King of the 7mm's based on the 30-30 type case. AMEN!

My barrel shoots one hole clusters @ 100 yards. Why measure groups?

Yep, I saw some of his work on one of my books and loved them from the start.  There is quite a few rounds I would like to get from him.  How long did it take to recieve your barrel?

I ordered my 20" 7 GNR bull barrel last summer and it only took 7 weeks. The barrel is a class act. Really nice smooth matte black finish with "Gary Reeder Classic" and the "7 GNR" engraved and enlayed with white silver. Really tight lock up. Last spring I had Gary Reeder rechamber a barrel. It was delivered two weeks to the day after I shipped. Now that is service. This included buffing out the old caliber, engraving the new, and then rebluing the barrel all for the cost of a simple rechamber. Gary is the best to talk when you call. His contender and encore services should not be over looked.

Thanks for the info.  This spring I am planning on ordering a new barrel and truly want a 25-06 jdj for those big S.C. beanfields.JD makes very fine barrels but like I told them in the other post the military just pay well so sometimes I have to go for the best bang for the buck not the best bang.  With that, I have been looking at GR's site for that one that just jumps out and grabs me.  Still not sure, turns out they all grab me.

I have bought and sold factory barrels and have a VVCG barrel. But what I am slowly learning that I would rather have one of the best than three of the factory or even a medium priced custom. Nothing I have ever seen, bought, or shot compares to the quality of my Gary Reeder barrel. Gary actually checked my barrel for accuracy before it left the shop. Something very few of the others will do. Yes, I still like cheap barrels because I just bought a $195.00 45 colt from ED.
