This rifle just pulled me in to it
« on: October 20, 2010, 03:25:54 PM »
Went to one of my various haunts today(gunshops ;D). Was just loitering around and my eyes met a rifle I could not keep my eyes off of. Mind you, I went in due to the wind was blowing to hard to figure out my Steven's .223. Well, loitering is not a sin in a gun shop. I took ahold of that rifle I was looking at and it was love at first touch. You all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we all have our differences. Anyway, the rifle is the Savage 11FCNS in .204. Great looking, good feeling and I really enjoy the .204(Had one in a Handi sometime back, sold it). This one I don't think I will be selling anytime soon. Got it home and mounted one of my new Redfield 3x9's on it. Sweet look'in gun. Has all the bells/whistles that Savage could put on it. This one has the Accu-stock, great stiffness on a synthetic stock!

So, I also just had to have some V-Max in 32 grain and 40. When I had my old Handi, this was a really fun rifle to shoot small critter's with. Being a 1:12, these loads should do just fine. It's the only caliber bullet that I could actually see visually hitting my targets, awsome! Tommorrow is suppose to be a better day, the weatherman sure got my range day screwed up, but what the heck......I wouldn't have bought another rifle if he had been right ;). I'll post some targets of the Stevens and this Savage as soon as I can.

IMHO - if you want the best from the rifle and cartridge, get some quality higher power glass on it. 3x9 is for big game hunting. Consider something like a 6x18 or so and in a side focus - you'll never go back to an AO. Mine shoots better than 3/8 at 100 with its worst load. Your 3x9 just won't cut it. My .02 cents worth.
