Question about Handi Rifle
« on: November 19, 2010, 08:32:52 PM »
Hey guys, I just have a quick question regarding the receivers on the Handi Rifles, are they cast, or forged? now I'm not looking to start an argument over which is better, Lord knows that debate is raging on many other forums, I am just curious. I have a couple of the Handi's (1 in .45-70 and another in .30-06) and I personally find them to be excellent little rifles, and I always carry one of the two when hunting in the thick brush.

Any input is much appreciated!

First off welcome to GrayBeards. Loads of good people and info here.

Check the FAQ on top of this forum. Tons of info about the H&R NEF guns.

This link will take you to where pictures and discriptions of the SB1 SB2 and SB2 10style are.  ;)

Welcome! As you'll see from the FAQs links BB posted, SB2 rifle frames are heat treated investment cast alloy steel, while SB1 rifle and shotgun frames are ductile cast iron. H&R has been fitting 357mag and 44mag barrels to SB1 frames since 2008, so the one link in the FAQs is a little dated as to that detail. Another change is H&R won't fit any rifle barrels to SB2 frames made '96-'99 other than the 357 and 44 mags.  ;)
