Remington 572 Fieldmaster (picture added)

I picked up a nearly new one today at the Panama City gun show.  I've been wanting one for a long time.  I'm very tickled ;D

Eventually I'm gonna need some kind of pump for my 22 stable (need. yeah right!).
I was reaching for the credit card to get a Henry when you shared about the paint rubbing off.
Let us know how it goes here. I'm tagging this thread.

The 572 was my first rifle, a present under the Christmas Tree when I was, I think 9 years old.  Once a week my mom would take me to the local gun shop to pick up a brick of .22's.  Sure shot the heck out of that gun off the back porch (we had about 10 acres of woods behind the house)  When I was older and smarter, I traded it for some other gun, don't remember what.  I still kick myself for doing so.  I have often thought about buying another, but it wouldn't be the same.  They ain't target guns, but their not supposed to be.  They are great all around hunting and plinking guns.  I'll bet you are going to like yours.

I sighted it in today and it's very accurate and it functions perfectly.

It was shooting less than 1/2" groups at 25 yards.  I was shooting all kinds of tiny bits of skeet and shotgun shells at 25 yards and couldn't miss.  Function was fast and perfect.  I was shooting CCI Mini-Mags.  I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

My brother has one of the plain (ADL) guns and it is superbly accurate.  Not in the target rifle sense, but you'd be hard pressed to find fault with it as a hunting and plinking rifle.  I've been trying to con him out of it for years, but he's on to me and won't let me have it.  That's a very nice looking specimen.  Enjoy!!

Swampy,

You have been searching for a reliable, accurate, 22 rifle for a while. Will this be the one, or does the search go on?

I'm still thinking about a Remington 547 or a CZ-455.  I want a nice bolt action that matches my big game rifles.

The CZs are nice accurate guns but I don't think they look as nice as the 547. JMO. The 547 looks just like a rem. 700 to me.
I read some reviews over on rimfire central and the owners seemed happy with them.
