I bought a redhawk from my friend Ben from Texas back a few months ago. I've been wanting to give six shooter huntin a try for a year or so. I shot a few boxes through that redhawk and got to where I felt pretty confident out around the 50 yard range, so I took it deer huntin with me this past weekend.

I debated on whether to take the 06 along in case I saw a wall hanger out two or three hundred yards, but nixed that deal and went with pistol only. I did see some nice bucks that would have been no problem with the 06, but didn't let that bother me, I was there to try to take one with the pistol.

I got one. It sure ain't one to do any bragging about, but it was with the six shooter, and that 44 mag dropped it right in it's tracks at 55 yards.

It's a start. I don't know if I want to keep hunting with the pistol or not. It's a pretty neat deal, kind of a challenge for sure, but those distant bucks are on my mind now. I spect I need to stay in the thick stuff so I can't be seeing those big boys way out yonder.
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

great job, any deer you take (legally) is one to brag about

I love hunting with my contender, but there are times when you can't use your hand gun or want to take that old /06 or even 12 ga. out for a walk and give it a chance to bark.
