went hunting with new 45 BC yesterday and got my first deer ever with a rifle. so far the only deer i've shot has been with buckshot. i haven't gotten to hunt very much so i'm still inexperienced. had a deer come out on a two rut road about 45 yds from my stand, got the gun up and the crosshairs on the shoulder, pulled the hammer back, and would you know, when i went to pull the trigger the darn deer took off. the shot went bad, right through ribs. but what suprised me was with shot through the gut, that 260 gr grizzly bullet knocked that deer clean off it's feet. i could see it happen with a shot to a solid shoulder but a clean pass through the gut, that impressed me. had to track the deer about 125 yds and it ended up being a small 6 pt buck.
any way, that was my first deer with a rifle , a handi-rifle, and it was my first buck so all in all it was a good day. now that the 45 BC has the taste of blood, maybe i can add a few more notches before the end of the season.
