Savage 220 misfires
« on: October 24, 2010, 03:02:04 PM »
I had my dealer send the Savage 220 back because of misfires.  They supposedly replaced the bolt and unspecified small parts.  I tried it again and after about 5 shots it misfired again for about 6 or 7 shots before I gave up.  I sent it back to Savage again with a letter that my next column would not be good for them if this was not fixed.

I'm using Federal 3" shells that they recommend because i cannot find the Remington around here.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Only run 10 or so 2 3/4" Rem. Accutips thru mine but so far so good... clip is a little tight(rough) but otherwise no issues. I did shoot 5 Hornadys and they grouped terrible, maybe 6" @ 50 yds. Accutips were on the money, maybe 2-2 1/2" @ 100 yds... and that was probably human error as much as anything.

I just got word that my 220 is back at the dealers.  I'll pick it up tomorrow and shoot as many slugs through it as my shoulder can stand.  Once again Savage says practically nothing about what they did.  This is the second time back so it had better be right thios time.  I'm not happy! >:(

The clip on mine is a pain to put in too.  Is there some sort of sequence in the manual that I missed?
