Craiglist
« on: October 25, 2010, 08:44:20 AM »
Took a stab in the dark trying to find some extra places to trap this year and posted an ad on craigslist. Wrote that if anyone was having problems with nuisance animals that I would remove them for free. First call I got was from someone about 120 miles away, but the second call was from a guy just down the highway in the next town. The way he discribed it I just hit the jackpot. Said he's been having problems with muskrat and beaver tearing up his pond. Going to go check it out tomorrow. I guess craigslist does work sometime.

Good luck , I have had a lot of calls about rats and beaver crawling all over the place.
Hope your place turns out a lot better than some I have gone to.A lot of land owners tend to exagerrate the amount of damage and the amount of animals.
Keep us posted on how this turns out.

I'll give you all a heads up tomorrow after I check the place out. I figure if it comes down to where there are only a few critters than I will gang set the area so I can catch it or them and pull out in a few days. I figure if there is only one beaver than that one beaver will make me a few pounds of excellent bait as well as some fresh castor and saq oil.

The place was a bust. The guy claimed he had beaver eating his trees aand coyotes stealing his chicken. We found a few peeled sticks, but no sign of coyotes. He runs a few cows on his property and in the very back of the pasture one of his cows dropped a stillborn calf. I told him he shouldn't worry to much about coyotes as they hadn't touched the calf or the afterbirth and it looked like the calf had laid there for a couple of days. Its mother had already lost interest in the calf and was no where near the calf. Oh well, no harm in looking. We may go back once season opens and set a few coon traps. I found some blond coon hair in the bottom strand on barbedwire and I haven't ever caught a blond coon yet.

Yeppers fellas know what you mean about busts on so called problems landowner has and nadda there.  Ive even had it with foresters that said bvrs all over the place and went in three miles to site and there hadnt been any bvr for at least 5 years or more.  Found one peeled popple stick the size of a  pencil which probably means and old bvr had wandered thru but didnt set up house.   Wont be the last time i go on a wild goose chase but you cant   not check leads out as sometimes they are very good and lead to other trapping opportunities.
