Seriously folks, as I see it, the unaudited, unregulated Fed, its quantitative easing, free money, etc., coupled with ridiculously out of control entitlement spending, will continue to destroy our free enterprise and personal wealth by the destruction of the value of our currency (probably intentionally).

Unless and until we, the republodemoindependent libertarian party of America realize that there aint no free lunch, and that if we want to pass this Country on healthy and viable, the $4 Trillion federal "non-discretionary" budget (there is no such thing, you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip) obligation has to go, replaced with something less that half its size and scope.

I heard something on a local radio talk show this morning that just isn't mentioned by politicians, especially on the state and national level. It's something we should all know anyway. He is just a little fish in the political pond being the mayor of a small town but he actually has to co-mingle with his constituents face to face every day unlike the one's for state and national office. He said "There is no such thing as government money. It's all taxpayer money and you need to be very careful how you spend it". Nice to see a politician that realizes this even if it only has a very small impact.

Nope! A RINO helped them break the filibuster , but Health care was all dems. Not one republican voted for it in the senate.

Catchy title, don't you think?  It got your attention   As I get older, I've come to realize that there are forces so much more powerful than political parties at play.  Like I was pointing out in my original post, the Fed has more power than any Congress.  Gold standard?  Fort Knox is nearly empty (watch the next few months as Congress begins to seek accounting for the movement of our gold reserves.)  Get out of the Fed?  Good luck.  It is what we need to do, but are we willing to step over the dead bodies in the streets from the collapse of our economic system?

I think that we'll weather this storm.  Undoing 100 years of the destruction of the dollar won't happen overnight.  But, a good place to start is auditing the 12 Federal Reserve banks.  Rats tend to scurry in the light.  It is us, the American people, that have to make it perfectly clear that chartered jets for the Speaker of the House, $2 billion vacations to the Taj Majal, $1 Trillion in "stimulus" money to political friends, tracks of land for the former Speaker (Hastert), etc., just aren't going to be permitted.

60% of the US populous getting some form of government entitlement check isn't going to fly anymore either.  It is time for people to get out of the wagon and start pulling.  There are a whole bunch of us who could use a break.

Yep. The gooberment is going to continue the sell out, both d's and r's. The fed holds the US hostage and tells us that if we don't bail the banks out, they cannot guarantee the securities. Extortion at its finest. The gooberment will not buck the fed, they do not want another argentina to happen here. It didn't get alot of coverage here, seems we were more intently interested in a thing labelled 9/11.

Ever wonder why the secretary of treasury comes from the Fed almost exclusivly? Sadly the downfall may come someday. Don't look for the gooberment to bail you out or come to the rescue. They are too busy securing their position for the future. Gooberment will ALWAYS side with the money, the Fed, insurance co.'s, banks, etc.

  Will we ever get anybody on capitol hill to care about We the people? They have all found out how much money, easy money, there is to be made if they just play the game. They look upon us as a joke and a source of income (taxes). Our "discussions" of contemporary gov't is nothing but rhetoric. We are all servile tax paying serfs.
