Load developement
« on: December 19, 2010, 06:20:40 AM »
I've been shooting 158 gr cast SWC with a diameter of .357 and will be switching to a 158 gr cast RNFP with a diameter of .358. Will I need to start all over with loads or can I use my existing load?  I'm concerned about the tighter fit causing an increase in pressure.  Mu current load is 13.5 gr of AA#9 with a CCI 500 primer.

If you don't do some bracketing around the load you'll never know.

I would start with the assumption that the load is at least close.

Do 5 loads, one the same, two above and two below.  In one session you'll know if you need to do any more load development.

I wouldn't expect the .001 difference would change much. If your SWC load is max you might ought to make your first loads a little lighter, But with lead bullets I seldom see any difference which bullet dia I use. Generally the larger bullets work better for me..
