Warmest Boot?

Hello folks:

I have a problem in that when I get cold, I CANNOT warm up while outdoors.  Whatever activity I'm involved in (hunting, hiking, shoveling snow, whatever) must end so I can go indoors and warm up.

With this in mind, any recommendations on the best hunting boot for warmth (must waterproof as well).  I have access to a Cabelas outlet, but would like opinions before I go in.   Finally, I'm willing to spend good money on a pair, but if we can keep it under $300.00 it would be great.

....I know what you mean!  I checked into the Cabela's on-line catalog and looked under Pac-boots.  These designs offer replacement liners that are absolutely the warmest I've ever used.  Just listen to the folks that snow-mobile...they know what works!  Take your pick and if I were you, I would order a spare pair of boot liners to be certain I had dry boots all the time.  Good Luck and if you find something you like share the word!!

As important as the boots you buy are the socks you wear.  Make sure you spend money on good socks as well.  Also, everytime you come in from the outside, pull your felts out and dry them.  I've gotten into the habit of putting mine on the hot water tank in the basement.  Just dont lay the felts against any hot pipes.  It sure can stink up the house.  One thing  I have found is that these new silver colored felts don't seem to be  as warm as the older blue things that were common a few years back.  Maybe I'm just getting older--and no comments about that pls!

Now if it's a hunting boot that you want for sitting to -60 degrees or even walking up to +35. Go to Northern Outfitters site and order yourself a pair of their EXP boots, about $200.-. They are by far the warmest boots on the market. I've had a pair for at least 12 years and have in the mean time purchase boots by Lacrosse with 1300gr thinsulate. Which are warm, but not even close to the Northern boots. I also have pack boots and others with all sorts of liners. None come close.
You can wear either no socks in them or use a synthetic. Either will work as well.

Thanks for the input folks!!  See next year, I suspect that I'll be hunting from a tree instead of a blind (a much better, albeit colder view) and suspect that I'll need more protection than the 22 year old hiking boots I currently wear.  I'll look into both the Cabelas and N.O. options suggested.

Hey, if you haven't purchased those new boots yet, I saw on Coleman's surplus site the "Mickey Mouse" arctic boots were available pretty reasonable.  We used them on guard duty during the "Cold War"

I was going to suggest the "mickey mouse" boots as well.  When I was in the service, the AP wore them when guarding airplanes on the flight line.  Got down to -20F, -70 wind chill factor.  Not sure about them as far as walking in the woods.  Kinda clunky.  But, they are warm and rubber for a scent cover.

My stepdad was just bragging about his new boots. He works construction and spends many hours outside in Michigan, using a transit. He also ice fishes, without a shanty. Anyway he bought a pair of Rockys (I believe) with 1600 grams thinsulate and Gortex. He said his feet finally stay warm. I also agree with the previous post on socks.
