Got 'em Back
« on: February 23, 2011, 12:05:43 PM »
Drove up to Rosalia today, to the gun smith, to pick up my thumb holes stocks.  I had Dave inlet the recoil lug area so that a Elite would drop into an Extreme stock.

I had never really seen a milling machine and table work before for inletting a stock.  It certainly did it better than i would have with a Demral tool.

I have come to really like thumb holes stocks, never thought I would.  I really like them off the bench but I did not think I would like them for hunting but all of that has changed now.  They are really comfortable and seem much more stable for me.

Since there were not any thumb hole stocks built for the Elite series, anyway none that I know off, the next best thing was to alter the Extreme Thumb Hole...  Here they are with a couple of DISC Elites mounted in them.  In these stocks the barrels really do not float they fit in the barrel track surface to surface and are very accurate that way.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Very nice!  I love my Encore thumbhole stock.
