I am looking for a free spin pawl for a Ruger NM blackhawk 45.
Anyone have one around they want to sell off?

Why don't you make one from the existing factory one? I have done it several times myself. All you have to do is grind off the top notch of the ratchet slightly. And I mean ever so slightly. If you were looking down the sights we will call the right side of the gun the right side. This is the easy part. This means that the ratchet will have the same right and left sides as the gun. You can either take the gun apart and do this or just take out the cylinder and cock the gun. After cocking it you will see the ratchet poking it's little teeth out at this time. With a dremel tool grind the top tooth from the right side at a slight angle. Do not grind the ratchet to a point. Leave about a 1/16" flat on the front. Replace the cylinder and open the loading gate. Spin the cylinder. Try it upside down and right side up. Try it side ways. When it works in every conceivable way stop grinding. It is very easy to take too much off of the ratchet. If you take too much off then call Ruger and they will send you another one free of charge. It really is simple. I paid to have my first one done by David Clements and saw how it was done. I have done all of my others myself.

Oh man, that is kick ass!! Just did it in no time at all, and it works like a champ. Saved me $34 right there.
Thank you very very much.

LOL...
I am curious though, what happens if you grind too much off?

The cylinder will not lock-up. I have done that too. Called Ruger........ got another free part. Great company. If they only knew.
