What's In the Water?

You're walking along your favorite stream in search of your favorite game.......
when lo and behold you come upon this:


Assuming you do not have a laptop with a satellite connection, and you have a cell phone with for emergency purposes.....
Do you know who you are going to call to report this circumstance?
Will you need to get home first to look it up?
Your answer will be used for an informal survey being conducted.

It does for me, wonder if it's a cache issue.
Hmmm.

At any rate, I'm wondering how many are willing to report when they see something amiss (pollution, strange pipes, etc..) in their waterways.
If so, how many actually know HOW to report these instances?

I'm working on an educational project to make the outdoorsmen more aware of their watershed surroundings while out enjoying the Great Outdoors.

OK, I got the photo 2nd time, I apologize!  Still can't see too well what it is....looks like a drainage pipe with water pouring out into the stream.  Is there something in the water?  I wouldn't  know what the NY'S DEC phone number is off the top of my head but the Game Warden's number is kept in my license pak and I sure would drop him a quick shout (If I had a spare bottle with me I would sure grab a sample and photograph the scene..........if the camera was with me!!!)

looks like somebody is trying to flush something downstream. the first i'd call is a state agency, maybe the county extension.
well i'm lookin at it again-maybe the revenoorers--kinda looks like sour mash :roll:   .

I see nothing "evil" in the drainage pipe itself.  What's it connected to?  It's just another symptom of "civilization".  If I were you, I;d do my hiking a little farther from the city......that's where all the good stuff is.

The pipe itself is symply a "symbol", not to be taken as a literal reference.
My intention is to get the pulse of the angler finding something similar to that situation.

Being from NC, I'm sure you understand the importance of stream substance identification. Seems there's a slight problem with factory farms (CAFO's) in your neck of the woods.

Oh,......I understand, now.  But, don't fish poop in the water?  And when I'm out in the middle of the lake and the stripers are hitting and I gotta go, do you believe that I crank up and head for shore? And when you're out there hiking and taking pics, do you carry a "special container" with you?  

I'm an outdoorsman,.....the whole world is my urinal.

Besides, I don't drink water 'cept in ice cubes.
