Saving an 870 20 Gauge Standard Weight

I put a deposit on a very tired (and cheap) 870 standard weight 20 gauge yesterday just to save it from ruin.  It has a pretty diamond pattern checkered stock that needs refinishing.  It has a Cutts Compensator on a long plain barrel.  The metal has an even brown patina.

I'm going to have the compensateor removed and a choke tube and new brass bead front sight installed.

 ;) Swampman, did you get the chokes that go with the cutts????? while they are ugly, I always thought it might be cool to have one just because they were popular years ago...I remember Hemingway having one on a model 12 and a photo of him shooting birds with it in Idaho..I have looked at several shotguns with a cutts on them but they had no additional chokes to go along with the one in the gun...Yesterday I saw a beautiful model 31 Remington in 20 ga. at the Rock Springs gunshow..if it would have had a rib, I think it would have found a home...have 2 870 20's, but the model 31 is soooo smooth...anyway enjoy your new fine....

This one just has the one choke tube.  If the barrel were shorter I'd just leave it, but it's really really long with the compensator on it.
