Classic Carbine at the range

Took the little 45 out yesterday.. Shot it at 50 yards with Blazer 200gr. hollow points. Cheapest ammo I could find. Both groups under 2". Also shot some lead Cowboy Action ammo.. Pie pan size group at 50 yards with it.... Gonna stick with the copper jackets..

when you make the swich to lead you will have to be careful to match the bullit to your bore size.mine did the same thing till I tried bullits sized to .454. DR

You can do a lot better than that.  Blazer ammo to me isn't worth the time to shoot it.  It's not reloadable, and costs about as much as stuff that is.  Stick with the jacketed and find out what she likes.  Reload em if ya can.

Mine just loves the 270 gr SWC over H4227 (top load for a Colt).  The bullets are .452 and cast from straight wheelweights.  I've got to chronograph that load someday.  44 Man

Haven't started to load for the 45Colt.. Load about everything else I shoot...  But I was pleased with the results with cheap ammo, windy day and a $20 scope.  Any other loads you fellas have that work well in your Carbines let me know.. Thanks  Rick

I get excellent accuracy and smack with 21-23 gr. Reloader7 and CCI magnum pistol primers and the Hornady 300 gr. XTP magnum.  In also have some loaded up that perform well with Dardas 200 gr. RNFP (also cheap at $78 for 1000) and 6-8 gr. unique.  Last accurate load I've loaded up was with the 250 gr. XTP and 21 gr. H110, although some of them disentegrated out of the last box, thus the reason I've gone back to the 300 gr. Magnum XTP's.  I also loaded some of those with 25 gr. Reloader7.  Least accurate I've tried thus far was 255 gr. LSWC non-gas checked.  Best accuracy was obtained with 9 gr. unique, but was still almost 2".  I really like the magnums personally, albeit somewhat more expensive, like $23 for 100.  The 200 grain plinker loads though are what I shoot a lot of and it kicks about like a .22.  ;)

Try some .454" lead bullets. 250 grain Hornady XTP over 9.8 grains of Unique with a CCI 300 primer worked well for me.
