First One of the season with the T/C
« on: November 20, 2010, 03:25:13 PM »

Here is one I got today with my .44 mag and Federal 300 gr Castcore bullets. She came in on me when I was just starting to get settled into my stand all my gear was still on the ground.Had to shot her off handed around 50yds or so moving thru a cutover..Man I love the rush from hunting with a pistol.

Good job Twohats, off hand shooting is tuff. I agree with you, handgun hunting is so much more rewarding.

She was walking and I hit her mid body high, she hit the ground like a ton of bricks. She tried to crawl for a few yards stretched out her neck and expired. When I skinned her out the bullet went right under the spine and exploded massive damaged occured.I didn't realized the shot was that far back seeing her reaction.I figured I just hit high behind the shoulder.I quess being I shot offhanded I either pulled right or she took another step.I really like this stuff.I primarily hunt with a longbow and this T/C gives me added excitement during the gun season.I am now to try my other new barrell(7-30 Waters)and see how that one performs..

Very nice.  Well done...especially off hand.  I find it hard to be rock steady with shooting stix so your taking this doe off hand is amazing to me.  Congrats.

i don't wanta be a a-hole but it looks awfully dark in those pic's to be hunting, with what looks like a ground blind in the background.

well, if you didnt want to be one, you shoulda exercised better judgement and not suggested foul play.   ever think that maybe he waited until the end of the day to take a picture?  some places you can have more than one tag, and just because you drop one doesnt mean your hunt is over.  i have plenty of pictures that were taken at the end of the day and it looks darker in the picture than it actually is.

congrats on the hunt, two hats.  and thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

Home built...no big deal. Here in VA you can take two per day till 6 then buy bonus tags and everyday is doe day.I shot the doe @ 3pm and had to wait for my buddy to finish bowhunting and had to drag her with the stand on my back through the cutover struggle to get her on the truck.I was smack wore out and i always take pics for my scrap book.It just happen to be dark thirty when i got to taking the pictures.I sometimes wait till morning but my Church duties start early so under the lights I go a butchering.LOL....I much like my pics during daylight better,at night they just don't look good to me.This is my backyard actually.one of my many picture taking spots...I hope to share another pic if the 7-30 Waters speaks out this week..LOL
Thanks guys

MAYBE this will be my year with my handguns... So far I missed twice and the third got up and went on the property of another, where I didn't have permission to go. ( Or a desire to get arrested or shot at! )

Congrats on your harvest. Especially stepping up to the challenge and shooting offhand.
This year was my first time out the the T/C in the deer field. Very satisfying experience.

Congratulations!...I hunt with a pair of wheel guns, one with optics, and one without and will make my choice of which to take depending on the area I hunt.

The Scope sure does make for some "comfort food" as ones eyes start to go but mine is a dot.

Any deer taken with a handgun is a bonus and rewarding!!  Haven't used a rifle in 15 years, just too much fun with a handgun :D :D :D :D
