I have two loads.  The first is 100 grains of pyrodex select with a 250 grain round nose lead bullet I mold in a harvestor crush rib sabot. It has been tried and true for me.  My new lad I iwll be using this yerar is 80 grans of blachorrn 209 with the same bullet and sabot.  Both hit in the same place with no scope adjustment.  Two weeks is early ml season and I look forward to trying it.

My 50 cal Huntsman is new for me this season too.  I have two loads that have the same POA/POI @ 100 yards.

460 grn 50 cal No Excuses Conical, fiber wad & 75 grains of BH 209 w/ standard winchester 209 primer

385 grn 45 cal No Excuses Conical in a 50/45 sabot & 80 grains of BH 209 with the same WIN primer.

Early season starts on Oct 18th so I guess I better pick one, but I like them both. ;D

For a while I have been using the Barnes 285 Spitfire/290 TMZ with 90g TS FFg. Last year I tried BH209 with the 290 TMZ. Worked great on the deer, but less velocity and accuracy than the TS using the same primer (Fed 209A).

90 grains of pryodex RS select and a 240 grain T/C jacketed hollowpoint, and the 25 acp primer. Just sighted the gun in the other day, and at 50 yards with open sights, I can consistently remove the top from an aerosol can. Works for me.

80gr Blackhorn with a 300gr Barnes Expander works really well on deer. What I shoot the most is same powder load with 240gr XTP. It's kind of wierd, but those XTPs' are a confidence bullet for me. My barrel likes it and in turn I love it. I just know I'm going to hit where I'm aiming when I'm using those.

80 grains of BH209 with a 350 gr Hornady FPB can/has/will shoot sub MOA for me out of my Huntsman, with several sub .5 MOA 3 shot groups. It is the most accurate bullet in the Huntsman, but there are several others that are no slouches. 70-80 grains of BH209 with a 440-460 grain all lead conical with a fiber wad can/has/will shoot sub MOA as well as several saboted bullets in the 200-300 gr range sitting on 80-100 gr of BH209. The Huntsman is the least fussy muzzleloader out of all 13 of my muzzleloaders, which include Whites, Knights, and T/C. The ONLY bullets I would say that DON'T shoot very well out of my Huntsman are the PowerBelts, but I wouldn't shoot anything bigger than a coyote with one of those anyway.

Of course none of that is possible with the standard primer carrier breech plug, as it leaks like a sieve, and is not BH209 friendly. Sounds as if you're already over that hurdle? ;)

I would say that the Huntsman (mine) favors the heavier 300 gr saboted bullets over the 200 and 250 grain bullets. So, in my case, I can shoot most any type of bullet I wish to from the Huntsman, and do. Try some 350 gr FPB's or lead conicals if you don't like saboted bullets.

I am no expert, but I have shot a LOT of bullets through my Huntsman and used to participate MUCH more in this forum. If you want some more specifics on loads, I have done several range reports here in the past that you can check out by checking my past posts.

Good luck, and enjoy your new rifle.

X2 for my wife, only 80gr of Pyro.  Shoot lots of "Cheap Shots" for practice, same point of impact.
