Annoyning Chevy Ads
« on: November 05, 2010, 08:36:18 PM »
Veral,

Is there anything that can be done about those highly annoying Chevy Ads? I'm about done looking at this forum due to the ads and I've been longer and longer between log ins because of them. If I didn't have two Chevy's in the driveway right now, I'd never own another one just because of these ads. Every time I go from one post to the next they pop up and I have a pop blocker.

I'll post some photos and a short story of an elk kill this year with your 385 grain 405 Winchester bullet if I can stand to be here long enough.

They're here to stay until the end of the year, but there are some steps you can take to eliminate them.

Tim

I hate pop ups always have. I really thought I'd never see the day I'd allow them here but I was led to believe the income from these would likely exceed $3000 a month. That was a seriously and gross over statement. If it were that much honestly I think I'd have to continue living with them.

I asked if the revenue would be an amount I felt was about the minimum I was willing to live with them for a trial period and was given the above figure and I dunno about you guys but that's more money than I make each month so I just couldn't turn it down.

As it worked out it has fallen short of that minimum figure I was willing to give them a trail for by at least a couple hundred dollars. That's just not acceptable but I am bound by a contract and must live with it until the end of the year.

Folks, I know they are a pain but we are getting about four times what the other banners of theirs pay when they are displayed. We display 3.1 million pages a month... that adds a lot of dollars to our monthly income for GBO which more than triples it and in a time when we need it really bad. If it does not pan out and pay us what we are expecting and have been told we will make, then they will go away but until then lets see what happens. For those who hate ads there are many ways around them to include becoming a GBO Subscriber which removes ALL ads from GBO for you. We have to pay the bills somehow so unless some of you are willing to start footing the bills why not just hit the close button after it comes up and continue on surfing the site. Now if you are running 800x600 like GB yes it is a REAL PITA but based on our analytics software that is only a handful of people, less than 1% of the members.

I just "click" on them little "x's" and they disappears.  I can live with that. What's REALLY annoying is knowing that my daughter is related to my ex-wife....don't have an "x" for the "ex".

I've found that if I turn the sound off they aren't nearly as annoying. I don't watch TV in fact I don't even have one that can get a signal from the outside world so I have no idea who these people are. I do know I'll never buy another vehicle from Gov't motors.

Bill, we can't fault you for trying to make some profit off this enterprise, or at least pay the bills. All is well. Thank you.

Nothing free in this world.  If it helps pay the bills I'll put up with it.
