break open, scopes, fiber optic sights, 209 primers, sabots are all to modern.  #11 cap or flintlock or even earlier ignition is where the real muzzle loader is found.

That is not true.... the Chinese invented the first sabots, they were for BP cannons and the French made them popular in hand canons.  Sabots have been around forever... well almost for ever since BP is also almost forever
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Please keep the "traditional" rhetoric out of this forum.  It has it's own place.  This is a MODERN INLINE FORUM!  You know, for us lazy hunters.

I'm all for it.  No more messing with caps!  My fingers are too fat for those things!  I always thought having to use those caps on MLers was discrimination against us guys with fat fingers anyways.  Now CVA comes up with a solution and everybody bad mouths it.   ::) :P

nope anyway you put it primers, blackpowder and sabots are all old tech. new tech is smokeless powder, interbond bullets, blastic tip, brass casing, all sealed up. the cva electra is a mix of old and new tech mainly new. and its bound to flop

Alright fellas, just calm down, don't get your undies in a twist.  I've just solved everyone's problems.  I've just invented an ingenious device that can be attached to just about any muzzleloader, including sidelocks and flinters, (with enough glue and tape).  It is just as weather proof as the CVA (with enough glue and tape).  Lock time is all but instantaneous, and no fumbling around with caps or batteries.  Trigger pull is God-awful, and its kinda awkward to shoot, but I figure future modifications will improve ergonomics.  I call my invention the Lightning Improved Muzzleloader Preferred Detonating Ignition Contraption, or LIMPDIC.  Careful shooting it and always where safety glasses, you don't want to catch a LIMPDIC in the eye.

yeah you will have to get past "child safety" to shoot. just like savages where you need the 2 stage to shoot! yup you might have a little issue with the bolt action...

I know this is an old topic, but I couldn't help but ressurect it.  Anyone have any experience firing and/or playing with this gun in the three years since this technology has been out?

Illegal in FL during the muzzleloader season.  Smokeless powder too.

i thought about it for a little while, but then heard reports of it not setting off blackhorn powder very reliably. so i went with a regular inline, cause blackhorn cleans up quickly and shoots clean i'm hooked on it.

I wouldn't have one as a gift.

I do own a CVA Electra and I love it !!
It is fast to reload,, about 15 seconds at the most.
Very accurate, 1.5" @ 100yrds. with 250gr Hornady SST and 100gr Pyrodex loose.
The trigger pull is just like a bench rest rifle with a custom trigger,, smooth as silk !!
Very easy to clean,, the breech plug is completely sealed so I just pour in a capfull of cleaner then swab out as usual.
Battery life is as advertised with a 9volt "lithium" type battery.
A normal days hunting in sub-zero temps does not affect the electronics performance.
A rainy day out in the open does not affect the performance.
After years of shooting other inline muzzleloaders,, this is my go-to gun now.
The only thing I don't like is that the Electra WILL-NOT fire off the new Blackhorn 209 powder but thats not a problem for me,, that stuff is way
over priced anyways since im ok with cleaning my Electra and useing either Pyrodex or 777.
