"I'M SICK"
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:59:34 AM »
Yes, I am sick of the "black friday" adds taking away from Christmas real meaning.Retailers are hopeing for a huge financial gain, when most of the nation is having difficulty just putting food on the table and the bare essentials of life. The real American wealth would be gained by putting GOD back in our schools and government. God became human flesh to sacrifice himself for our sinful ways. That is the true mystery of Christmas. Greed is become to rampid in this country. >:(

BUFFERMOP. All true. One word, GREED. Years ago store owners  cared for their employees, not anymore. People were allowed to stay home with their families, but companies don't care about that anymore. Most of the stores now have specials starting Thanksgiving day, pulling people away from their families. All part of satans plan. POWDERMAN.  :( :( :( :( :( :(

BUFFERMOP. One Thanksgiving I had to work and a snooty woman told me she thought it was terrible to be working on Thanksgiving, right in front of a mgr. The mgr smiled at her and said, yes sweetie it is terrible, and if it wasn't for you  and others like you we'd ALL be home with our families where we belong. The old bat left in a huff. I had to work one Easter, I vowed never again. Thanksgiving is bad enough, but theres no excuse for most businesses to be open on Christmas or Easter Sunday. POWDERMAN.  :( :( :( :( :( :(

News showed morons who had camped out since Wed night to get into their fav store first. Last year there was a fist fight up front in the wm I worked at. A guy decided he wanted an item in a womans cart in line to check out. He reached in and took it, she hit him in the mouth, he hit back, and the battle was on. Some people act like animals for a chance to buy cheap chinese junk at giveaway prices. I've seen people shoved to the floor by someone to get at an item, seen others grab at the same time, then the tug of war begins. This is the first year around here that they have targeted Thanksgiving day to begin the insanity. News shows doors opening with people running in pushing their way forward looking for a prescious piece of cheap junk. When I was a kid even the 4th of July had businesses closed. Our family usually went for a picnic at a pond or lake on the 4th, a family day. Not many family days anymore. Then folks wonder what has happened to morality, family values, and society as a whole. Not hard to figure out. satan is alive and well. POWDERMAN.  :( :( :( :( :( :(

It is a tough economy for the business owner, what with internet competition, "box stores", etc. If that is was it takes for a business to stay open, prividing jobs for people, I don's see the problem. Better to work on a Holiday, then be unemployeed.

What gets me is the big push I see and hear to talk people into using their credit cards and go in debt, more than they already are, to pay for all that Chinese junk they feel they just have to buy. I saw a report that said many people still owe on their credit cards from last Christmas. I can't even imagine still paying interest on credit I used from last year for Christmas gifts. Let alone racking up more again this Christmas. I wonder if any of those people think about how much last years gifts cost after paying all that interest. And they camped out in front of a store and got in a fist fight to get the cheapest price.    ???

While watching TV I will see a commercial for a credit card with stupid little rewards for using it. Then a short time later I will see a commercial for some kind of debt relief outfit or a government debt relief program to pay off your credit debt for you. I keep hearing that the "average" household has 10,000 dollars or more in credit card debt. I'm sure glad I'm not "average"!    :)

The Bible warns not to put yourself out as usery. And also warns that when it comes time to pay up and you don't have it that your debtors will come swiftly. It appears that some folks are slow learners. Especially those who are now running America into the ground from Washington. Guess nobody reads the Bible anymore.    :(

I know for my family it will be a skinny Christmas this year. But I'm not about to spend what I don't have. Besides, we know the real meaning of Christmas so it doesn't matter that much. After all, Christmas started with poor folks in a stable with less than we have. And Jesus and His mom and dad deserved alot more than us...........I ain't complaining!    :)

SADDLEBUM. Thats exactly why walmart dropped layaway, to push their credit card. After having my income cut in 1/2 there will be no gifts exchanged this year, and probably for years to come. That doesn't bother us in the least because we know what Christmas really is and celebrate the birth of Christ with joy. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

What is "rampid"?

I'm not so sure that most of America is struggling that much.  Even if you figure unemployment, under-employment and those who have given up, probably 80% of us are doing pretty well.  That's not to say we couldn't be doing better, but the Dumocrats are so worried that some folks might get to keep a little bit of what they earn....

I don't participate in the Christmas shopping madness, but this is America and freedom is our thing.  If folks want to shop at 2:00 a.m., what the heck do I care.  Whatever it takes to get things rolling.  All that cheap Chinese junk getting transported, stocked, sold and so on, creates jobs--here as well as in China.  If China doesn't work, who the hell is going to buy our debt?
